Our client was tragically killed while driving home due to a reckless police chase. The police were chasing a known and locatable burglar through three different counties instead of following their own procedure of standing down and arresting him at a later time. The chase ended when the burglar ran into a motorcyclist and then our client’s vehicle, causing our client’s vehicle to explode, killing him. We were forced by the government to litigate the case for two years and settlement represents two times the $300,000 cap which generally applies to government tort cases in South Carolina. (2025)
